Our senior management team recently joined the Meet for Good collective for the second session in its ‘Be the Best Team Mate’ mini-series, hosted by Garth Miller – former Special Forces operator, record-breaking high-altitude mountaineer and commercial airline captain.

Garth shared powerful lessons in leadership, trust and team performance, drawn from some of the most demanding environments imaginable – from in-flight emergencies and the ‘death zone’ on Everest to the sharp end of military command.

Having served with the Royal Gurkha Rifles, Irish Guards, and UK Special Forces, and having deployed on operations in Afghanistan with the US Navy SEALs, Garth brought a unique perspective on what it takes to build resilient teams that can perform under pressure.

His message was clear: high-performing teams are built on trust, accountability, shared purpose, and the ability to support one another when it matters most.

Mark King, Managing Director of 2bm, commented: “In addition to supporting the physical and mental well-being of our people, advancing their expertise through education, training and personal development remains a top priority for us.

“We recognise the value of learning from those who have experienced leadership at the highest levels, and sessions like this with Garth provide powerful insight into teamwork, resilience and performance,” added Mark.

A valuable and inspiring session for the team, with lessons that extend far beyond the room.
