At 2bm we believe every business should care for the environment by taking as many steps as possible to reduce our carbon footprint.
As well as recycling our waste, we recently fitted LED lighting across all floors of our Nottingham head office, which has already reduced our total usage from 2800 watts to 1200 watts.
Installing LED lighting has impressed us so much that we felt we should share some of the benefits that will hopefully help your business consider upgrading too:
Lifespan – The average LED lasts over 100,000 operating hours – 2-4 times as long as most fluorescent lighting and more than 40 times as long as the average incandescent bulb.
Enhances employee performance – LED lighting can also enhance an employee’s working environment, impacting on their mood, comfort and performance. Poor lighting can cause reflections on screens, glares and shadows.
Lower maintenance costs – Less frequent replacement means lower maintenance costs.
LED Energy Efficiency – LEDs generally consume very low amounts of power. Depending on the existing lighting and the LEDs installed, the savings could be more than 90%.
Improved safety – LEDs contain no glass, so are shatter-free, making them safer. LEDs emit almost no forward heat, so the risk of burning is lower. LEDs consume less power, operating effectively on low-voltage electrical systems.
Adaptability – The actual LED device is extremely small, making LEDs incredibly adaptable
Illuminates the room, not the ceiling – LED technology emits light at 180 degrees, whilst every other type of light emits light 360 degrees around the source, driving up costs. LEDS illuminate the room, not the ceiling.
Design flexibility – Because LEDs are so small they can be used in virtually any application you can think of, making them extremely flexible. LEDs are also available in a wide range of correlated colour temperature (CCT) values from a warm yellowish glow, through to a cool white light.
Environmentally safe – LEDs don’t have the environmental issues common to traditional lighting solutions such as fluorescent or mercury vapor lights.
Operate well In cold and hot temperatures – LEDs work well in a wide range of operating temperatures without significant degradation.
