2bm is a collaboration partner of a leading software company for the Industrial Internet, reimagining industry’s infrastructure by connecting software, apps and analytics to industrial businesses. Powered by Predix, General Electric creates software to design, build, operate, and manage the entire asset lifecycle – enabling industrial businesses to operate faster, smarter and more efficiently.
Their work helps businesses run smarter and helps improve people’s lives, bringing together the Digital Industrial world.
2bm have been working with General Electric (GE) for over 16 years now, originally supplying racks, power strips and other associated infrastructure accessories to GE’s UK data centres. More recently we have been given the chance to expand our partnership with GE by supplying and installing a network of fibre and copper cabling to support the growth of their data centre capabilities in both London and Amsterdam.
Looking for a European partner, GE appointed 2bm to design, supply and install CommScope data infrastructure solutions. Partnering with structured cabling and installation specialists Scenariio, 2bm was able to organise installation of Cat6 copper data cabling and OM4 fibre cabling into 20 new cabinets in the hosted data centre on behalf of GE Digital.
Following a real estate reorganisation in Europe, GE Digital have now been regularly expanding their data centres in both London and Amsterdam. Subsequently the existing data centre in Budapest has now been closed, and service has been distributed to new racks housed in AM3 in Amsterdam Holland’s capital.
This is 2bm’s sixth data centre installation with our certified installation partners in the last two years for GE, with each being delivered on time and ahead of budget.
Further data centre expansion in Amsterdam is planned in Q1 2016 with an ongoing need for patch lead supply.
As CommScopes extensive range of structured cabling components is the global approved choice for GE worldwide, the varied range of Data Centre options is very expansive.
GE decided to use the very latest pre-terminated solutions for the expansion of its fibre networks and back bones. The use of this product set allows GE Digital to quickly expand and add fibre capability as it uses a modular MPO fibre technology meaning fibre cores can be added in blocks of 24 very easily.
High-Speed fibre backbone links, using OS2 144 core fibre trunks were installed in late 2016 to allow additional network services to be deployed in the existing Data Centre cages on a different floor. Our certified installation partners worked in association with the data centre hosts Equinix to install these in a very tight timescale but again within budget and ahead of the client’s expectation.
“Following a number of successful installations for GE in the UK and Europe, 2bm have expanded their GE relationship to be a trusted partner for the supply and installation of networks of copper and fibre to help support the growth of GE capabilities following their real estate reorganisation.”
