2bm's growing reputation as one of the UK's most innovative and cost effective data centre design and build specialists has been enhanced with the news that they have secured the contract to refurbish the University of Hertfordshire's College Lane site.

The extremely challenging project was won following a competitive tender and will provide the University with new upgraded support infrastructure whilst maintaining critical services in the room.

"We are delighted the University has chosen to partner with 2bm," explained Sales Manager Neil Roberts. "We will completely overhaul the existing College Lane site with the aim of delivering a much reduced PUE for the facility. This will include a new raised floor, UPS, N+1 cooling solution and significant improvements to the room's basic fabric."

"The design will also see the introduction of power metering with IP connectivity to provide the University with a much more accurate picture of power consumption within their data centre ahead of impending changes in legislation later this year."

"Given the need to also maintain a live working environment for mission critical services during the installation, we have proposed a ‘mirror' design that will ensure a smooth migration and transition to the new platform."

Work will commence shortly on the project with completion due in April.
