2bm's growing reputation for delivering state of the art data centre design and build projects has been enhanced with the completion of a new facility for Dudley NHS Primary Care Trust.
The project included the construction of a brand new computer suite made from pre-fabricated panels for rapid on-site construction. With the need to house upwards of 20 racks, the installation of a cold corridor was recommended to help not only reduce air conditioning costs but also to enable more racks to be stored in a smaller area.
In addition to the cold corridor solution, 2bm minimised the risk of system failure by providing Tier 3 data protection for the facility with N+1 backup on the air conditioning system, power supply and generator.
And Dudley's NHS Head of IT Bill Remmer could not have been more pleased.
"The data centre marks the PCT's move to enterprise computing that comprises highly capable and resilient IT for business use. It is quite unusual for smaller organisations such as ours to have such a high calibre platform and 2bm has been instrumental in helping us achieve this".
"From my perspective we handed you the keys 8 weeks ago and then 8 weeks later they handed them back with the room built to a very high standard, on time and on budget."
"In fact you saved us some money with the cabinet relocation. To my knowledge we haven't had any complaints from the local staff and our input has been painless."
"It doesn't get any better than that - well done!"
