As a business we continue to work collectively to decrease the environmental impact of our operations, and last night we received further recognition at the 2017 IIE Investors in the Environment Awards.
The prestigious awards, held at Nottingham’s Hilton Hotel, included guest speakers Rehem Alam (Inspired Training), Martin Rigley (Lindhurst Engineering) and Jon Edgar (Castle Rock Brewery).
The Green Award requires organisations to meet a series of high-level criteria. The six stage auditing process measured 2bm’s key resources, finding a 15% reduction in electricity usage and 110kg CO2e savings over the past year.
2bm were awarded the green level Investors in the Environment accreditation for the second year running following a 90% reduction in paper use, 15% reduction in electricity usage and reducing their overall carbon footprint by 32% from the baseline year 2012/13.
Luke Radford, 2bm’s green champion, collected the award on the evening and also as 2bm were last year’s winners, presented The Great Green Star award to this year’s winners, Castle Rock Brewery. The great green star award is presented to the business that exceeds the Investors in the Environment criteria.
In receiving IIE’s top Green Award, Luke Radford, 2bm’s Green champion commented:
“As a region we are thriving in this field and sustainable business is definitely something to celebrate! As a business it is great to receive another stamp of approval for all the hardwork that has gone into 2bm’s Environmental Management System.”
“IIE Group organisations as a whole have saved an incredible 1,102T CO2e in the past year alone – a figure we would encourage every business to contribute to in the future,” added Luke.
